Surrey Wildlife Trust community champions awards, 3rd August 2023

Updated: Aug 21, 2023

River Mole River Watch was one of the finalists in the 'Emerging Talent' category of Surrey Wildlife Trust's community champion awards. Although we didn't win we were delighted to have reached the final, it is a great testament to the work we have put in to get the organisation up and running over the last few months, and the commitment of the volunteers who have been taking part in the water testing programme since May 2023. The community celebration evening was held at Place Farm Barn, West Horsley, it was a brilliant evening and a great opportunity to meet other groups working across Surrey to help the environment and wildlife.

We are run by volunteers and are reliant on donations and grants to purchase the test kits used by our volunteers. These cost about £200 for 3 different test kits for each volunteer, plus about £25 every year for reagents.

We also need funds to cover running costs which we keep to a minimum and are for essential costs like the insurance, website hosting, printing and hiring rooms to run events.

River Mole River Watch is free to join, any donation that you can make would help enormously.

Thank you!

Our thanks to Colin Kemp for the wildlife photos
